Steve Carter

Steve Carter, a native of Union County, has been an owner of ABS Insulating since he helped open the doors of the company in 1991. Steve is very hands on in the industry and comes from a list of great field experience.

Steve attended Central Piedmont Community College and graduated with a BS in Architectural Engineering. He has been involved in new home construction in and around Charlotte since 1975. He worked at McClure Lumber and gained experience in the sales field as a building supplies salesman. He accepted a position at Carolina Insulation and worked there for 10 years before making the decision to start his own company. It was at Carolina Insulation where he met friend, and now partner, Allan Hoppe. Steve has attended the Dale Carnige sales seminars and Anderson Window School
Steve attended Sun Valley high school and married his high school sweetheart. Steve and Kathy just celebrated their 35 year anniversary.

Steve is very involved with the business and the day to day activities. He focuses on sales and production and is responsible for maintaining relationships with many of the larger clientele of ABS Insulating.

Steve loves to travel. Depending on the season, you can often find Steve enjoying a long weekend at his mountain or beach house. He enjoys his cars and devotes most of his personal time to the newest division of the company, ABS Racing.

Allan Hoppe

Allan Hoppe, Charlotte native, has been an owner of ABS Insulating since 1991 when he and his partner opened the doors. Allan is a very active member of the ABS team.

Allan graduated from South Mecklenburg High school in 1978. After graduating he traveled to Boone, NC where he received his BS in Marketing/Management from Appalachian State University. During college Allan spent his summer breaks and holiday vacations installing both batt and blown insulation. This experience gave Allan the opportunity to learn a great deal about the insulation industry.

For 9 years Allan was employed at Carolina Insulating. His career path started in sales and moved into a management position. It was at Carolina Insulating where he met his friend and partner, Steve Carter.

Allan is very involved with the daily activities at ABS Insulating. With his partner Steve focusing more on sales, Allan is able to focus on the operations side of the business. He also works with a handful of our larger clients that he has worked with since the beginning.

Allan has been married to his high school sweetheart, Robin, for 23 years. They are together enjoying their 2 children, Allyson, 12, and Jonathon, 9. Allan enjoys Lake Norman, cars, hunting and attending all of his children's sporting events.

Sales Team:

Jeff Hoppe

Jeff, a Charlotte native, has been with the ABS team for 9 years. With his extensive sales background, he was a great addition to ABS Insulating.
Jeff is currently one of the top sales reps for the company and works with many of the top builders in the area. Jeff recently got married. He loves the outdoors, golf and fishing. He most recently got certified as a scuba diver.

Frank Rabette

Frank and his wife originally came to work at ABS as an insulation team. The worked together hanging insulation for over 9 years. Frank accepted a position on the sales team in April 2004. He has worked very hard to build his customer base focusing on residential customers and recently acquired a few track builders.
Frank enjoys time on his motorcycle and camping with his family.

Mandy Crawford

Mandy started with ABS in January 2006. Originally her position was on the sales team to assist in the sale of insulation & gutters. This is going to be a great opportunity for her and the company and she looks forward to building a great client base from the ground up.
Mandy, born and raised in Charlotte, just got married and loves to travel with her friends and family.

Office Staff

Becky Green

Becky has been at ABS over 2 years. Her positions have included operations, customer service and accounting. She currently serves as Office Manager and does multiple tasks including outstanding sales support. Becky is the proud parent of 3 children and values time with her new granddaughter. She loves the beach and hopes to find a vacation home to purchase on the coast very soon.

Brandy Parker

Brandy has worked in the Scheduling Department for the last six months. She works very closely with the Production Manager on a daily basis. When scheduling with ABS Insulating you will work with Brandy on all jobs through their completion. Brandy has been married for 15 years and has 2 girls. She enjoys cooking, motorcycles and time with her family.

Emily Kurcoba

Emily is the newest addition to the ABS Insulating Team, coming from Elmira, NY. Emily is the receptionist/office assistant. You will most likely speak with Emily when you call into the office. She is responsible for handling paperwork, phone calls and other office duties. Emily loves to travel and enjoys leisure time. The ABS team is working to turn Emily into a true ‘southern girl’.

Jesse Bunnell

Jesse is the Production Manager for ABS and just celebrated his five year anniversary. Before moving to Charlotte, he lived in Maine. Jesse is responsible for getting the 20 insulation trucks and crews loaded with materials on the daily basis. He arrives at 6am every morning to ensure all teams are ready to go and out the door to the correct job sites. Jesse enjoys riding ATV’s and racing. He is one of the drivers for the ABS Racing Team.

Allen Hughes

Orginally an installer for the company, Allen moved up into a Field Supervisor position more than a year ago. He serves as quality control, checking in on job sites and working closely with the building superintendents. Allen’s hobbies include fishing and boating. He lives in Ft. Mill and is the father of 3 children.

Gutter Division

Del Funderburk

Del is the General Manager of the gutter division of ABS Insulating. He has been with the company for 2 ½ years. Del was hired to increase sales and manage productivity of the gutter division as it continues to grow.
Del has been married for 25 years and has one son. Del is very active at the highschool that his son attends. He is a great singer in his spare time and enjoys golf in his leisure time.

Chris Bass

For 2 years Chris has been a member of the ABS team. He began his career as an installer and was recently promoted to a Field Super for the gutter division. His job is quality control and requires daily visit to the numerous job sites. Chris is the father of a newborn baby and enjoys time with his family.
